Testimonials for the Unhurried Explorer:
Some happy customers write about our pianola repairs and restoration.
Ean & Leonie,
Thank you for coming all this way to repair my really neglected Pianola. You have brought happiness back into my life and many others. You truly do have a special gift and you are using them. I wish you God's blessings as you travel to make other peoples lives happier. We all need music in our lives and you have certainly brought my Pianola back to life.
Happy travelling journey mercies to you both.
Love Mary-Lyne & Keith.
Please keep in touch.
To be continued.....
Just a small footnote:
For me this is what it's all about. Getting a loved pianola that doesn't work back into good working order. Lots of the player pianos have been handed down through families for decades & decades. It is my privilege to bring history back to life.
Beale pianola restoration
Good afternoon Ean and Leonie,
Just a short email to tell you that the Beale Pianola that you restored for us last August is playing well and we are having lots of fun with it.
I am playing it often (as you emphasised) Cheers for now and thanks for your excellent work in restoring our pianola,
Betty & Howard

Weber pianola restoration
Maleny has the unexpected privilege of the services of Ean Hargreaves, the Pianola Man who hails from Bega in New South Wales, famed for its cheese production. He will bring tired old Pianolas back to life. There are still quite a few around just waiting for a bit of care and attention to bring them up to excellent condition. In many ways they are priceless possessions, as very few, if any, are manufactured today. People may be unaware of the vast range of Pianola Rolls still available, mostly in antique and curiosity shops. They range from jazz through to Ballads, dance music and a huge selection from the classical repertory including piano concertos complete with orchestral tutti, Sonatas and Salon music.
Once restored the instruments are easy to pedal and are great fun to play. It is a unique experience for the untutored to be able to express beautiful music in their own way without tedious practice.
I have an old English Weber Pianola, restored about thirty years ago. It has become very stiff and tired over the years so I made enquiries on the internet about repairs. Surprisingly I received a number of replies, but what decided me to choose Ean from The Unhurried Explorer was his 25 years of experience in Player Piano Refurbishment & the fact that he travels to virtually anywhere in the country to repair or restore the instruments on site. This cuts the cost of transportation to and from distant workshops. Ean has a mobile workshop & his attention to detail is astonishing.
It must be understood that nowadays repairs on Pianolas is very meticulous "hands on" work and cannot be done "on the cheap" but the pleasure of having one in good condition is worth it. I have a collection of 750 rolls and cannot wait to start playing them again once my instrument is completed.

Ronisch Angelus player piano
A lovely couple approached us with a Ronisch Angelus player piano that had been worked on many years ago, but now it wasn't working. If you know anything about Angelus, you will agree that they are hard to fix.
As it had been handed down thro the family over many years she really wanted it to go properly, so after thinking about it, we decided to take out this action & replace it with an amphion. This type of work creates many challenges, but after many weeks of work we got it up & running. We also had a French polisher in to do some work on it.
Finally the day came for the client to check out the player. (This is the part I like) She was taken aback by its appearance & how it played. After it was delivered I received an SMS from my client & the polisher got a phone call from her to say thank you.
