Bringing these beautiful instruments back to their best is not just a job: it has become our lifestyle.
We offer onsite player piano repairs, extensive skills and experience;
We have a network of suppliers and part makers, which we have built up over many years in the industry.
We have worked on unusual instruments such as 65 note pianolas, electric pianolas and previously badly restored instruments.
We restored one pianola which had lived across the road from a concrete factory. When we pulled it apart, it had lots of hardened concrete dust inside it.
We have redesigned a 1917 player that was badly designed.
As the years have gone by, pianolas have grown older and we have found that repair and restoration work has changed. Player pianos often need rebuilding.
Many clients contact us saying that the bellows are hard to pump and need repair. We find there are actually lots of pin holes in the material in the stack (the top part).
We now see pianolas that leak air through the timber, valves that are all gummed up, porous pouches and cloth that is falling apart.
Some of the pianolas we see have been ‘fixed’ before. Sometimes this work leaves a lot to be desired, using inferior materials and glues that are almost impossible to get apart. In many cases, new timber is required to rebuild the instrument.
